ORIGAMI created the Glass Katakuchi Matcha Bowl by stepping away from the idea that matcha tools have to be ceramic. Through the glass, you can watch your chasen move and your matcha come together as you whisk, turning preparation into part of the experience. Clean, light, and neutral, glass fits naturally into any space and gives traditional matcha practice a more open, contemporary feel.
The katakuchi spout connects whisking and pouring in one smooth motion. It reduces dripping and lets you pour comfortably to the very last drop, and it handles lattes and other drinks just as easily as straight matcha.
A double-wall structure keeps your matcha warm while the outside stays comfortable to hold. It also reduces condensation, so your counter stays clean and dry. The layer of air between the walls makes your matcha appear to float.
During manufacturing, a small opening is sealed with silicone resin to keep water out of the double wall. This is safe and not a defect. You may also notice slight wrinkles or air bubbles in the glass, which are natural characteristics that don't affect quality.
Care
Wash and dry your bowl soon after use to prevent matcha stains and odour transfer and keep the glass clear. Hand wash gently with a small amount of mild detergent and lukewarm water, using a soft sponge or bottle brush, then rinse well and air dry upside down. If the inside is hard to dry, wipe it gently with a paper towel. For noticeable stains, soak the bowl for 20 to 30 minutes in lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in it, then rinse and wash. Avoid metal scrubbers, abrasive sponges, and sudden temperature changes.
Please note: Do not use over a direct flame, in a microwave, oven, or dishwasher.
