Kimono is a natural mutation that took place on Finca La Serranía, between the varieties of Maragogype and Catuaí. The coffee tree offers large coffee beans, is of leafy complexion, and has long branches that drag to the ground, so Pedro Fernández named it “Kimono”, since it gives the impression of being a silhouette of someone wearing a kimono.
Having been born among coffee plantations, and following his ancestor’s legacy of coffee production with passion for quality and respect for the environment, Pedro Fernández acquired his own farm in 1985 and founded “La Serranía”. Besides coffee, the farm also produces other crops simultaneously in an ethic and sustainable way: ornamental plants, cardamom and pine trees.
