Current rules and regulation:
Competition time:
- 4 Minutes of prep time (extraction for serving is not allowed during prep time)
- 6 Minutes of brewing/extraction time. Competitors must provide at least 150ml of liquid.
- Judging time: blind tasting by the judges.
Procedure:
- A small amount of competition coffee beans will be provided to each competitor 1 day before competition and can be picked up at Nemesis GNW at 4 PM on Thursday, August 14th.
- A new bag of the same coffee will be given to each competitor before the competition starts.
- Each competitor is allowed to bring one helper but they are not allowed on the stage.
- In each round, 3 competitors will prepare their coffee simultaneously.
- Each competitor has 4 minutes of preparation time and 6 minutes of extraction time.
- At the end of the session, each coffee is poured into an identical cupping bowls (labelled at the bottom) and then presented to the three judges.
- The judges taste the coffee by decanting the brewed coffee into another drinking vessel for sensory evaluation.
- On the count of "3,2,1" the judges will simultaneously point to the coffee they like the best.
- The bowl is then lifted, and the number/competitor is revealed and the winner is announced. They advance to the next round. After 3 rounds (27->9->3->1), the 2025 Canada Origami Cup Champion will be announced.
- In the case of a tie, the Head Judge will decide the winner for that round.

Do's and Don'ts:
- You must use the official Origami dripper model.
- No other drippers may be used to prepare the drink or on the competition station.
- No other coffees can be used.
- Competitors must provide at least 150 mL of brewed coffee.
- Coffee not submitted within the 6 minute brewing/extraction time will not be evaluated and the competitor will be disqualified.
- Any violation of the rules may result in disqualification.

A videographer and photographer will be on site.
