TARIFF

A tariff is a tax (or additional charge) imposed by a government on goods imported from another country. It's essentially a fee charged by the importing country's customs authority on imported goods. These fees are set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) varies based on the product's country of origin and classification, and not set by the companies and brands themselves.

DE MINIMIS

Items under DE MINIMIS regimes are categorized as of little importance to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and will be streamlined through border clearance. For example, coffee, any products not made in China, and/or orders under $800 USD, will NOT be subjected to tariffs.

UPDATE

To our American customers:

Effective May 2nd, any product made in China and shipped into the United States via parcel services will be subjected to: 

54% Ad Valorem Duty (value-based), or Specific Duty of $100 per item.

This import tax will not be collected at time of purchase. Any applicable duties and brokerage fee will need to be paid to US CBP usually collected via the courier. 

Importantly, our coffee and any orders not containing a product not made in China will continue to go through customs under the De Minimis entry and will NOT be subjected to tariffs for orders under $800 USD. Tariffs will only apply to products made in China or orders over $800.

All other orders to any other countries even if they contain products made in China will not be affected by this increase, but will still be subject to your local import duties and fees. 

Orders containing multiple items, containing any amount of item made in China, may be subjected to formal custom entry, which mean every items, does not matter where it is made, in the orders will be subjected to applicable tariffs.

We will update this post if any relevant changes to this situation unfold.

We do not recommend purchasing any made in China products to be shipped to the USA at the moment. All other products should not be affected by the tariff and should entered the US as de minimis entry.
